About Campanula

Campanula is latin for “little bells” and is the genus name of a family of flowering plants more commonly known as bellflowers. Highly variable in habitat, range and appearance, cultivated species are found in gardens across Canada. Peach-leaved bellflowers are graceful, hardy and understated perennials that grow easily from seed and flourish in most populated regions of Canada. Flowering in June, with occasional deadheading, they will continue to flower throughout the summer. Deadheading, or removing spent flowers is easy given the height of the stalks and strolling from cluster to cluster is a happy excuse to wander around the garden. If deadheading seems like too much trouble, that’s okay. You will be rewarded with a multitude of seeds to start a new patch.
